Firstly I have to say that you can’t really go wrong with a nice linocut. However,on the other side of the coin, when I see stuff advertised as “how it should have sounded” it really gets my goat.
So, apart from it being on YouTube where I suspect the sound quality is limited, these Dexy jokers want some mug to lay out on a fiddled with reissue but we’re happy to flog a poor sounding version the first time around!
I’m seeing this nonsense more and more from old has-beens and I’m sick of their old malarkey.

Glad you like the linocut. I know what you mean about the trend for remixing, remastering, whatever as a means of ‘encouraging’ us to buy things over and over again. The whole vinyl ‘renaissance’ is an excuse for this, if you ask me… There is an element of that with the Dexys thing too of course, although I think the reason it didn’t sound like Kevin Rowland wanted it to at the time was more down to the record company. Maybe he should have just stolen the master tapes again, although I guess the label might have been wise to that tactic. I was very sceptical before listening to it, but the new mix does sound tremendous! Anyway, yer goat is in the mail 😉
