Beachwood Sparks – ‘Wild Swan’s ‘ (from ‘Across The River Of Stars’ LP)

Hard to think that nearly a quarter century has passed since the first Beachwood Sparks LP crossed my path, but not so hard to celebrate the fact they are still around and that ‘Across The River of Stars’ is every bit as magical as anything they’ve recorded in the intervening years. Their particular take on Cosmic American Music has always placed as much emphasis on the spiritually psychedelic as on earthy Country vibes, but its the reverberations of the 1980s UK Indie Underground as much as the US Paisley one that have always allowed them to stand apart/above. ‘Across The River of Stars’ is evidence that they still do.
